Advice Fitting Starlet Alloys Needed

Need advice fitting alloys as I am complete noob when it comes to alloys. I have a 98 starlet S and just bought some alloys they are 175/60R/14 which the seller says are from an original starlet GT. Can I fit them straight on to my car or will I need to fit spigots. How do I know if I need to fit spigots, how many to fit & what size to get? Can I fit standard locking bolts & nuts or will I need special bolts? Is using a torque wrench necessary or can I get by just hand tightening. Any advice will be appreciated.

Spigot rings are used one per wheel if the hole in the middle of the wheel is larger diameter than the spigot that it fits onto.

You'll know if you need one if these are different diameters, and the size you need is pretty much defined by the two diameters. Measure these and if different contact a specialist.

As for Bolts and Nuts - which do you need. Some cars have studs on the hub for which you need the right nuts, and some have holes in the hub so you need bolts.

Either way, the question is whether the bolts or studs are long enough (the alloys are probably thicker than the steelies) and whether the profile of the part of the bolt or nut is the same for the alloys and the steelies. i.e. do you need nuts with a domed mating surface, or flat? Also of course check the diameter of the thread is right, but that's very unlikely to be wrong.

You can get away without a torque wrench. After all, who has one available when changing a wheel at the side of the road. But if you can torque them correctly then that's better. Either way, check the tightness after 50 miles.

you'd have to make sure that the offset is compatible with your car too.

If you're in any doubt then get a wheel specialist to double check what you've got/what you need etc.
