Front Guard Instructions Question

Hi again,

Downloaded and printed off instructions for fitting front guard to my XT5 and after a bit of studying feel sure I'm able to have a go myself.

I've got one query regarding the drilling on page 5 (step 4). The instructions seem to indicate the top 5 holes to be drilled at between 2 and 10 mm ? ? ?

Also the bottom two holes the same (2 - 10 mm) but also 4 mm off centre ? ? ?

Can anyone shed light on my query(if you understand my question !!!!)

Don't want to mess up the bit that has a "point of no return" and leave my new pride and joy looking like a bad case of woodworm has taken its toll

Thanks .

I think it will make more sense when you get the bumper off but I believe you will find that those double circles are scribed on the inside of the bumper. For the top row you use a 2mm bit to pilot the hole centred then open it up to 10mm (which is likely to be bigger than necessary to allow some adjustment). For the bottom 2 holes it doesn't want you to centre them but offset them by 4mm inwards as shown then open it up to 10mm.

That is how I read it but like I say it should make more sense when you see it. Before tightening the bolts move the gaurd around to get the best fit to the bumper.

Good luck mate (and if you feel inclined take some photos and we will ask the mod's to pin it to the maintenance tips - you can do it or send me the pics and I will do it for you).

Regards

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense, and as you say, it should become clear when the bits are in front of me.
