Fuel Pump

Engine management light came on and Mr T says new fuel pump required for my XT3 D4D 2004. 45,000 miles. It loses power every so often at 3000 revs.

How much, what is a fair price for this work and does it consist of an engine strip down? If so is it worth changing cam belt at same time and how much for a new cam belt should i be paying?

SVC valves is another issues on the D4D and these can also be done cheaper than the High Pressure Fuel Pump Mt T wanted £1200 for just the pump on mine :eek: :eek: got mine re-conditioned and all fine now (Half the cost including fitting and remove etc) Valves also give same symptoms as pump does......

Kingo has priced up those SVC valves before give him a PM or search the RAV forum for other threads (Anchorman who is all seeing and knowledgeable is probably away playing 1:1 trains, he has a search facility he uses to dig up older posts) I'm waffling now.......

Keep looking in and someone else will update no doubt

I think you've got it in hand anyway chatman. I agree it sounds like the SCV valves going off previous reports. I saved this little quote from our resident parts man kingo - I hope he doesn't mind me reproducing it;

Part number 04221-27011 is a PAIR of SCV valves, they were not on the original parts catalogue because they were not available as a part (you had to buy the pump!) but as they were going faulty, they made a matched pair available under part number, they are modified to cure the original fault

Kingo

EDIT

Price from me £185.30 including carriage and VAT

Kingo

Do you have a TSB showing the fitting instructions?

On the basis of experience with my landrover diesel engine, and what I read on this forum, what advantage is there to using a diesel engine for anything other than pulling a wagon train??
