Mmm Think I Made The Wrong Choice!

Having been a tad busy(became a dad again) the last month and a bit I have missed out on quite a lot of news n stuff...

More importantly I missed out on my main mans budget speach and how he's going to try and make our lives more miserable...

So last night at work I thought I'd take a ganders at the Road Tax changes and almost had a blood vessel pop!

£300 squid  from 2009 onwards... is this chap having a bubble bath or what???

Looks like I should have gone down the diesel path rather than petrol... :(

Might have to get intouch with MR T and see if he has any 2.2 D4D xt4/5s for me to take a look at and chuck big red in and get another one....

ANyway... feel a tad bit better now I got this off me chest!

Regards

Rob

Cheers mate...

Not sure yet... got to find some courage to confront the bank manager (the wife!) I think she might go mental when I say "Ehm I think it might be a good idea to change the car love".... think I might wait a little and see what MR T gets on the forecourt...

But I do like the red and also the blue.... black and grey would be last resort - or if they are the only ones available... greens a no go...

I'm a bit confused too  i know my 2.2 D4D Rav road tax will be £205 next year but 2010 what will it be ? can't understand 1st year rate is that only if i buy a "new car " in that co2 emissions class in that year or does everyone pay £300 that year? or do i pay £210......????????

Either way no happy born free taxed to death!!!!...... at least Richard Turpin :batman: had the decency to wear a mask!!!!!

If I understand it proppa... you will need to pay the one off payment in 2010 if you were to buy a brand new RAV...

so for yourself you'll be on the 205 then 210 one...

The scales are;

This is how it seems to pan out

140 diesel

Currently - £165

2009/10 - £205

2010/11 - £210

T180

Currently - £165

2009/10 - £260

2010/11 - £270

2.0VVTi (manual and auto)

Currently - £205

2009/10 - £300

2009/10 - £310

Somebody asked why the T180 was so expensive if it has the D-CAT system. It comes about because there is a significant increase in power (approaching 30%) but the emmisisons are only up by 7% thanks to the D-Cat system. Unforthunately it just drops into the next band so the duty goes up. In order to balance the emmissions neat fuel is injected into the exhaust of the T180 which will no doubt effect economy as well. Knowing our luck this will just be a softner so we won't feel so bad about paying double at the next budget.

Cracking diagram anchorman

It only made sense once I began reading it standing on my head...

Just one question... If Toyota fitted the D-CAT system to the 140 D-4D engine would it lower the CO2 output (and the road tax)?

I presume so duncs but the emmissions are already at an acceptable level and the cost of the system is high (it needs those special piezo electric injectors you have on a T180).

I can post the diagram upside down if it helps ;)
