Help!?

Due to someone backing into my (parked) car & smashing the nose-cone & front veil bodykit area, I`m in desperate need of the front bodykit to be able to repair the damage. Can I get one, and if so - where from?

(I was hit by a lady in her hire/courtesy car, and god only knows how she couldn`t see mine! I`m just glad she came and found me to tell me that she`d hit me, and not just driven off ...humm!)

I am aware this is a limited edition, import model, so I may be waiting some time ... full spec/model: Toyota Celica GT4 Carlos Sainz (1995 Ltd Ed Import.)

The insurance co are at loggerheads with me, as they are wanting to write the car off, despite it being only "cosmetic damage", due to the age and limited edition/import status. The car is in excellent condition, and just under 90k, and they`ll not give me what it`s worth, and (at the moment,) I`m fighting for it to be fixed, however the insurance are making ME do all the legwork! :ffs:

Please contact me if you are able to help.

Thanks,

Lara

(Not your usual Lady driver!)

PS> Any info regarding problems re-registering written-off cars/insurance problems etc also gratefully accepted, in case I do have to go down that route ...

I know a little, however personal experience/knowledge is always better!

hey there, sorry to hear bout your car, but like you say lucky she came and found you, not many ppl like that now adays! i had a problem with my Glanza V when a young boy drove into the side of me, the damage amounted to about £2500 and i only insured the car for £4000, but i loved it so much i refused to let them write it off, it took a wee while and quite a lot of arguments over the fone but they eventually fixed it! however sometimes if they write your car off they will give u a settlement amount and let u keep the car, which is a bonus if you can find the kit to repair it.

p.s. i am sure there is some legal standing allowing you to fight the case if they still decide to wright ur car off, especially as it wasnt your fault. let me now how you get on

Hi.

They`ve not actually come forward with a figure yet, as they can`t even be bothered to send anyone out to look at it - honestly - it`s that ridiculously organised! I`ve been waiting for a call-back for three days - when I ring them, they tell me they`ll ring back ... same old, same old. I`m gong to end up making a complaint about the Insurance Co at this rate! (More hassle!)

The car was in excellent condition, and I know that I`m going to have a battle on my hands getting back an appropriate amount if it is written off ... *sigh*.

My insurance is not with a "womens insurance" co., as they quoted a stupidly high price - I`m just with a regular insurer who cover imports.

Hi - no - mine were BROKER DIRECT via Quoteline Direct. Right waste of !Removed! space they are too when it`s come to dealing with this!

I`m fully comp, someone has run into me, yet I`m the one doing the legwork, plus I`m the one who`ll be out of pocket after this! Great!

Out of interest, you say your car is an import (which usually means grey import as most Toyotas are imported) and yet you say it's a Carlos Sainz.

But most Carlos Sainz models aren't imports because they are the European equivalent of the R/C.

So is your car an R/C rather than a C/S?

Not that it matters as far as fixing it goes. Good luck with that.

We recently had an issue with our Corolla which was only lightly damaged but was written off. We bought it back for 9% of the value of the car and that seems to be the standard figure our insurer uses. So they paid out the value of the car less 9%, and had the damage only been replaceable bits at the front we'd have been well happy because we could have put it back on the road for about £100 using second hand parts.
