99 Corolla 4afe Stalling - High Co Reading

Hi all,

Just looking for some answers in regards to my 99 Corolla (4A-FE) only just failing the emissions in the MOT due to high Carbon Monoxide levels.

I feel she has been running a bit rich lately, I have noticed rough idle and pinking of the engine when under normal load. I don't have a timing light but I have noticed the distributor is cranked over one way (as soon as I move it she stalls -she should be a little more tolerant?)

I had a problem a little while ago with rough idle and stalling - fouled spark plugs, so replaced them and still was rough.

I checked codes in ECU - nothing

I reset the ECU by pulling fuse - symptoms of rough idle seemed to diminish.

I suspect the O2 sensor? or leaky injector?? is there anything else I could look at that may give these problems??

If your HC and Lambda readings were within spec then it is most likely your Catalytic converter.

Turns out my timing belt was off by a couple of teeth... problem solved.
