Rust?

i was wondering why they was a little rust flecking around exhaust port three, see pic:

was your exhaust manifold overly rusty? or the exhaust gasket blown, cant see any evidence of it but could explain it.

i take it the rust is just on the exit of the port and not the full length of the port?

the rust appears to have lightly coated the inside of the exhaust port too

engine looks like its been stood could just be that, may be worth checking the HG though

how would i do that without having to get a new one dawsey? or should i just play it safe and replace it?

is this a car you've just bought or is it a daily runner? little bit extra info would help. a compression test could point you in the right direction but isn't a definitive test

i've recently purchased this engine and in the process of rebuilding it, it's not seized and has been stored with fluids in and sealed chambers. will do a compression check next monday. just looking for any previous experience with this matter

would need a new gasket. TBF for peace of mind it would be worth doing now while your doing the conversion, than get every thing in the car and find you have to either get it out or strip it down in the car
