Humming Noise And Buying Choice

I have a Corolla MMT D4D 55 plate.  I have noticed a humming noise has developeed when I a cruising along.  I thought it may be the roads but it is not because the noise is above that of a road surface contact.  What could it be?Since I have had my Corolla MMT in October 2005 I have had A new alternator, new brake pads, the clutch actuator needing work due to MMT problems and circuit issues and a new window seal.  Is this typical of Corolla MMT build quality.  I want to by a new car this year and I am dissappointed in the quality so far.  Should I be put off from getting an Auris MMT?
