Looking For Rhd Revcounter Base

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

This might sound stupid, but I'm looking for a BASE for a RHD revcounter.

I allready tried 1stchoice.co.uk, but they quoted me for a complete counter,

which is a waste of parts and money, as I really only need the base or even

just the metal plate beneath the plastic bit.

I borrowed some pics from this forum and outlined what I need:

Revcounter-Foot_RHD.jpg

And for those wondering: It's for a little project of mine and I can't use a base

for a LHD car, as thet position is allready filled by the revcounter :D

So if anyone on here has an idea where I could get what I'm looking for...

I'm allmost wishing someone will roll their car, ruining the revcounter,

just so I can have the base, but thats just a bit too harsh...

You tried the Pug 107 OC forums aswell?

Yeah, as well as Toyota UK, Peugeot UK and Citroën UK...

I tried 1stchoice.co.uk again, but got a second quote from the same breaker

for a complete revcounter, only this time at 160% of the initial quote...

At the moment I'm researching having the metal bracket (that's what I REALLY need/want)

copied as a mirror of my existing bracket. Doesn't have to look good, just has to work...

go on....is it for a turbo boost guage....? tell us it is...... :D

No, it's not for a gauge, but I WILL be mounting "something" there to get the real Mickey Mouse effect :D

Well, it's been quite a while, but thanks to REFZ I finally did get a revcounter through eBay.

Actually it was the ENTIRE speedo-cluster from a crashed 107, so the cover is a bit marred,

but since I'll probably end up using only the base it 'll be fine.

Today I mounted the RHD counter next to my original LHD-one and hooked up a second plug to the stock wiring;

the breaker snipped all wires instead of unplugging them, so I had about 3" of loom from the counter base

which I could use to make an exact copy of the OE-plug. The device I'm going to mount needs a power supply

anyway, so I thought I might as wel use the existing plugs to make it easier to install everything...

So to make a long story short: I now have TWO revcounters on mine, working simultaneously :D

Please wait a few seconds for Video to load!

I must ask WHY?.....................From your Video they do not appear to be in synch

Going to get a third one? one for each cylinder then.

No sorry forget the comment must be the New Year hangover.

I must ask WHY?

Simple; I couldn't resist doing this for the time being...

The second revcounter (the RHD-one) will be modified into a TomTom-cradle. That way

I will have my TomTom within reach, which it isn't when mounted on the windshield.

It will also be in the same focus-depth as the speedo and revcounter,

so glancing at the TomTom will be way easier, quicker and safer.

The TomTom need to get power, so I thought I'd use the existing connector on the base

of the revcounter. Since I was soldering anyway I made all 5 connections, so it doesn't

matter which plug is plugged intoe which base. And when I had all connections in place

I just HAD to try if it would work with two counters installed.

The next couple of weeks Ill be modifying the counter and/or base to teke the TomTom.

But I have a lot of the projects as well which might be more "pressing" to have this winter.

These include heated wingmirrors, a variable intermittent wiper up front and an actual

intermittent wiper in the rear with washer-delay, started through the OEM stalk-switch....

From your Video they do not appear to be in synch

They ARE, but they don't start out at the same level.

So they point at the same rpm, but they ave different scales; left starts at

8 o' clock, right at 9 o' clock and they both end at different positions too...

As I said before, this is temporary...
