Hi guys

I have recently purchased a 2.0 d4d Avensis TR Tourer - latest model, 126 hp

According to the manual you can use Diesel with < 500ppm Sulphur if you don't have a DPF, but you must use fuel with <50 ppm Sulphur if you do have a DPF.

It's not at all clear how you tell if you do, or don't have a DPF fitted.

Does anybody know what is the sulphur content of UK "Standard" diesel ?

Anybody out there who can tell me how to find out ?

I rang my local Toyota dealer, they told me that mine doesn't have a DPF but they seemed very unsure.

Thanks

P.

hi mate

the best way you to ask for a diesel certificate at filling station. but i am not sure yoou will get it from them. i have been trying to ask for the same certificate here in Ukraine, but they could not give me due to the fact the filliing stations are simply traders and the most probably this certificate might be obtained in their head office. you'll never catch the sulphur --- the filter can only catch mecanical dirt. to neitralise foundation of sulphuric acid you must to use an oil with TBN =8-12 (alcality number) - this TBN is never written on the plastic can, but be sure this diesel engines lube oil has all properties to liquidate an acid corrosion of an internal parts.

it is better to get filled your tank at very reliable filling station.

As far as i am aware the only DPF Avensis is the T180 and ruined with it!

Also, most if not all diesel is ULSD which is less than 50 whatevers! there is a EN number on the pump which confirms this, cant remeber what that is either sorry.
