New Gen7 Owner Clocking In To Say Hi!

Hi guys,

I'm the proud owner of a 2001 pre-facelift Gen7 140 with 74K on the clock. Had it for a week now and I love it, fantastic to drive! A huge step up from my old Vectra CDX.

I've just bought a private plate for it too, but (annoyingly) I need to wait for the new V5C from DVLA before I can get it sorted. D'oh!

Anyway, just saying hi. I want to say a pre-emptive thanks to DefiantFrog. I spent about an hour earlier trying to swap my Sony stereo out for my replacement single DIN unit. I got as far as disconnecting the cigarette lighter and that was it - the instructions i followed from celica-club.co.uk seem to be for models with "Type B" aircon controls so I got stuck! After looking on here, it seems that DefiantFrog has posted a handy guide for "Type A" aircon owners. Will be sorting that tomorrow night!

Just tried to fit the new stereo, following DefiantFrog's guide.

Got as far as I could, but the stereo brackets in the car don't fit the single DIN fascia. I'm assuming I need to order the correct brackets from Toyota (I have the part numbers I think, but if someone could confirm them for me that would be great) and then I can fit it?
