Where is the knocking sound coming from, does it sound like its the top of the engine by any chance? Certain rpm?

im getting 2 types of sounds and both from the front, 1 of passnger wheel and the other at the front some where. ones a knocking sound which ive been informed cud b the shaft and the 2nd is a tapping sound which sounds like metal knocking into metal. FINGERS crossed it wnt b expensive, if its nots too expensive im gna treat myself a custom exhaust since it is my bday next month AHAHAHAHAHAHA

I thought you were one bout a knocking/rumble from the engine, your on bout drive shafts rite? I think i mite have a problem with one of the camshafts, rumbling sound like a bearing or damaged shells, worse at bout 1500rpm but dont really hear it above that. It sound like its coming from the top end but not an expert on these things so its at the garage now. Leave it there for the week

hogie - have you had the cam cover off? mine's on half the mileage of yours and my cams are scored :censor:

No didn't take the rocker cover off ae102, was down the country bout 100 miles from home and had no sockets or proper tools, just took off the plastic engine cover,got out the screw drive put it on the cover and the ear on the screw driver to listen to what was going on, raising and lovering the rpm of the engine . Didn't sound good to be honest, hear a rumble and a clicking also.

Just drove her straight to the garage, say the will look at her Monday. Ill find out the damage then.

Have you priced new cams? You going for the piper one, read something bout them in another thread

i'm gonna try get them replaced under warranty tbh. i would love a pair of them piper cams.............. surprised nobody on ere has um? i've never priced cams up but if yours is worn i imagine the piper cam would be cheaper than a toyota one? with the idle issue - if it is a leak on the intake after the AFM the car will be over-fueling - carbon build up on top of the piston causing auto ignition?
