Good luck with it Jeff.

How much did you pay with Direct Line? They quoted me £208. I got mine from Tesco for £230 (with £50 cashback) - so £180. I had no - no claims as I hadn't driven for 15 years or so.

It's going to be a long weekend for you Jeff, but all the best things in life are worth waiting for! :D

With Direct Line it was £160, but I added no claims protector which brought it to £183. Cheapest I could find anywhere.

Tesco were quoting me £185 without the no claims protector, plus their accesses are higher than Direct Line.

I think Direct Line are the group behind Tesco Car Insurance anyway, why bother with a middle man. :D

Tesco will actually owe me money as I have to close the existing policy on my Mini which doesnt expire until September! and money back on the tax as well! It might cover most of my Aygo insurance! lol

Only 5 years ago i was paying out £985 for my group 12 Ford Puma, i used to have to save for months for it! I am looking forward to cheap motoring! lol ;)

You got a good deal there.

I'm pretty happy with mine - they said it will reduce by 40% next year & they will add an extra years no claims on top. Will have to wait & see. I may shop around a bit more next year.

Did you get any extras from your dealer in the end???

Just noticed - did you only get your insurance sorted today. My dealer needed a hard copy of the insurance certificate 3 days before delivery to ensure getting the tax disc.

Well I have over 10 years no claims, but i dont think car insurance comes much cheaper than £160, lol.

I got a 5 door aygo blue with style pack for £8440, not a bad deal. Just cant wait to go and collect! :D

I added a bit on my last post about the insurance certificate & tax. Did your dealer ask for your insurance certificate? They should be providing your tax free of charge.

Yeah, well they only got the registration sorted today, so I could only order the insurance today. As long as I have a cover note for Monday they can get it taxed there and then, most large dealers in Northern Ireland can make their own tax discs as its linked to the DVLNI computers. Was the same for my Mini.

And yes, the road fund license is included in the price they quoted.

That's great.

My Platinum is 6 weeks old tomorrow & I'm loving it - look forward to getting into it every day. I hope you have a good time with yours. I took it easy for the first 600 miles or so (kept below 60mph) - am now up to 900 miles & letting go a little more. Have been trying to keep under 70mph & am getting 61 mpg at present. Only down point - gets dirty very quickly - we have a lot of seagulls down this part of the country!

Just got her! She's lovely! Very nice car to drive, and even more nippy than i remembered from the test drive :)

One thing she DEFINATELY has is deadlocks, I remember it being discussed here that the Aygo didnt have them, but mine does. A double click of the locking button prevents the door handles inside from working! Very pleased about that, maybe Toyota have revised the weak security of the Aygo after all.

The bluetooth is fun as well! Plenty to play with!

Congrats! Looking very nice and shiny.

Your point about the deadlocks is interesting, as I've had my suspicions that it had them since getting my Aygo. While it's not advertised in the literature, and not having actually locked the car while I was in it I wasnt sure, but there's a definate clunk when double blipping the remote. Other half's 207 has them, as does the old mans Landcruiser, so thought it odd that the Aygo would be left out. I'll have to go have a play and lock the car while I'm inside. ;)

Thanks Justin! Yeah check ur deadlocks lol.

On investigation it looks like the deadlocks are on all the time when you remote lock with just one click, so if you lock the doors when someone is sitting in there they are stuck lol, unless they climb out the window.

Just fitted the Rev Counter and brighter courtesy light! All so easy to fit! Going to install the courtesy light delay on Friday :D

Congrats!!!

I hope you enjoy. Nice & shiny for now - I'll bet you'll have the bucket & sponge out once a week like I do.

The inside doorhandles NEVER work when the car's locked...

Yeah just realised! Must try the little lock button below the window, in the mini they were blind-headed when locked so you couldnt pull them up.

OK the Aygo definately DOESNT have deadlocks lol. Oh well. No matter how many times u push the lock button on the key you can still pop the button up in the door. Nevermind!

Still trying to get over the embarassment at the filling station there now, trying to work out how to get the petrol cap off, I knew it was a quarter turn to the left to unlock, but then could I get the blasted thing off! Worked it out eventually. £27 to fill, when half of the segments on the fuel gauge were still lit. Hope this doesnt mean it will be £54 to fill from empty!

From the 6 miles i have now driven the car all i can say is that stepping from a Mini Cooper to an Aygo, i cannot believe that it costs half the price! The only things my Aygo doesnt have that my mini did was heated front screen and traction control, everything else is there AND the Aygo has fancy bluetooth kit :D

One thing I didnt like about the Mini was the cheap light plasticy indicator and wiper paddles, switching on the indicator usually meant flashing the cars oncoming if you didnt use extra care, I love the Aygo's paddles, they have very expensive feel in comparison and the click is even dampened.

I will put a proper review in the review section when i have spend a week with the car and put a few more miles on it!

Thanks for everyones advice and help on this forum, helping choose my new car :D I am so pleased with it!

You've driven 6mi, but the odometer shows 34mi; did you take delivery with 28mi on the clock???

Did you ask why it's that much??? I believe the acceptable norm is 30mi/50km, but still...

I got my Aygo with only 7km(4,5mi) on it...

There were 20 miles on the clock when i got it, i think it was driven over from another garage in Northern Ireland. I had been out driving it again before i took those pics :D

My other cars in the past have had a range of milleage on delivery, my Ka had 76 miles on it when it was delivered!

It only holds 35 litres so will only cost 35 times the cost per litre to fill completely from empty. Be careful - I let it run right down before my first fill - it was on 2 bars for some time before going straight to 1 flashing & beeping bar (I was expecting it to go to 1 bar for a while before beeping). I was half a mile from the petrol station & managed to but in 34.1 litres - so was less than a litre left. Mind - someone previously said they manage to put in more than 35 litres - so must be some extra space in there somewhere. Some people have advised previously that they get 30 miles or so once the bar starts flashing.

Isnt the rule that a low fuel warning should activate around 40 miles from empty? My Mini would light up a warning when the trip computer said 40miles to go.

I will fill up again as soon as the warning shows :) just to be on the safe side, but i am hoping that wont be for over a month, i do very little mileage, which is why i downgraded from the petrol guzzling mini. :)

i manage to fill 38ltr (when messuring from an compleatly empty tank)

Nice car, blue really suits the Aygo as well. My platinum arrives on Tuesday so I am looking forward to driving it. One thing I do not like is the digital fuel guage, prefer analogue so you can eek it out. It's hard to tell from a digital how low you actually are.

Had my Platinum 7 weeks now & loving it. You soon get used to the fuel gauge. Have a look at the thread titled blob watch - that will help you. You should record your own blob watch for a few tanks to get a good idea of your usage. Fuel consumption seems to vary from person to person. On my first blob watch I got 131 miles before the first bar disappeared. Second tank - I only got 101 - same sort of driving (could be the tank wasn't quite so full). The norm seems to be 400+ miles per tank.
