Getting My Aygo Blue On Monday!

Well i was out in rush hour today and was very pleased at how the car handled in traffic and taking off at roundabouts :) I had to go for an exam at uni and there was no on site parking, all the surrounding streets were parked up, but managed to get the little aygo into a tiny space behind a speed bump that i certainly wouldnt have fitted any other car I've owned into! Left me with a big grin on my face :D

Had my Platinum 7 weeks now & loving it. You soon get used to the fuel gauge. Have a look at the thread titled blob watch - that will help you. You should record your own blob watch for a few tanks to get a good idea of your usage. Fuel consumption seems to vary from person to person. On my first blob watch I got 131 miles before the first bar disappeared. Second tank - I only got 101 - same sort of driving (could be the tank wasn't quite so full). The norm seems to be 400+ miles per tank.

I'm not sure I ever will, I had a Yaris for 5 years and 100 000 miles and I managed to run out of petrol on more than one occassion due to being over optimistic. More a comment on me than the car though I think. The other issue is when your better half has been driving it for the day and when you next drive it, it is already flashing! Then you have to wonder how long ago it started flashing :(

Talking of my other half, I will no doubt get the rev counter from the local Peug dealer and some 16x7 wheels and tyres, both of which are hard to explain to her because I'm supposed to be buying the Aygo to save money, well that and it looks like fun down the B roads. To me it has taken over from where the Yaris started, cheap and cheeky. The new Yaris seems to have grown a bit a lost some of it's charm, in fact to me it looks suspiciously like a giant mutant guinea pig. Eek.

Just driven my new Platinum from the garage, 45 miles in total all dual carriageway and A road apart from getting out of town.

Golly, going from a Mercedes AMG C43 with V8 and 300bhp to an Aygo is an eye opener. I got stuck behind a lorry on the A2 and before a big enough gap on the dual carriageway presented itself to pull out without holding up any other traffic the car behind pulling a caravan overtook us both and by the time he got past I lost my gap :crybaby:

Need to re-assess my driving style, momentum is King so to speak. Once it got up to 70mph though it was quieter than I expected and the ride was good. There is a slight pogo-ing motion over big undulations which probably is because the damping and body control is soft, as to be expected without the lowered springs. By fitting wider wheels and low ratio tyres I am hoping that some of the slop is taken out.

Nice engine sound, the stereo is better than I expected too, my old Yaris only had 2 Speakers. The MMT semi auto gearbox is hopeless in fully auto but very good in manual mode, another thumbs up. Not sure about the handling, I will stress test that tomorrow, but it feels pretty "tall" when going around bends, if you know what I mean.

Finally, the steering wheel is not on straight (or else the wheels aren't :D ) and so it points to the middle of the car by a few degrees, so I will have to get that fixed shortly. Not a show stopper though.

With the limited testing so far I am fairly happy all round. Reminds me a lot of my Yaris from a couple of years ago but with slightly more character due to the engine.

It will be definitely be getting the supercharger in 3 years time though, I have decided already.

Regards

Andy
