Wow this is a proper zombie back from the dead thread! You can start new ones you know!!

What file type are you using? MP3s?

I found on my Mk2 that some of my MP3s, specifically ones I'd bought from e.g. Bandcamp or direct from independent artists, sometimes had mahoosive album art images embedded in the file (Like a 2MB PNG! Why??) which the headunit would get stuck on. If you skip to another file which didn't have such a big 'header' it would usually play.

IIRC I used ffmpeg in a looping bash script to strip all the metadata off the files to stop having that problem.

Annoyingly when I got the Mk4 I realised I hadn't kept a copy of the old USB stick and now all my songs come up with just the abbreviated filenames instead of showing the name, artist and album art

Ya I have made a few threads recently so didn't want to come across as spamming.

Yes MP3s

It recognises the USB, processes all the music, and then doesn't do anything. As soon as I press anything it just " ejects " the USB and then goes back to the radio.

Not a massive problem as I can atleast set 6 radio presets, but would be nice to have USB music functionality

Just tried again. I was able to go through all the menus and see Songs/Artist/Album/Playlist etc.. But when I clicked on a song nothing happened, it has the status bar moving along as if the song is playing but nothing actually came through the Speakers

I'll try deleting the album art. I've tried MP3 files which don't have any album art at all, still doesn't work

@venomx How are the MP3s encoded ? I have had problems in the past with variable bit rates vs. constant bit rates. I have also had problems reading 320 kbps bit rate files.
