Red Warming Light Please Help

Hi,

This is my first post so please bear with me.

I have just purchased a Toyota Avensis Verso 2.0GL on a 51 plate.

A red warning light has just started to flash on and off when I lock the car. The light is not displayed whilst driving, only when I lock the vehicle.

Can anybody help please.

The best way for me to describe the light is a picture of a car with a key in it. It is located just at the bottom of the speedometer just to the left of the tripometer window.

I have no manual so can't check this warning anywhere.

Thanks in advance

Hi, Firstly welcome to the club

I have this on my Corolla.

It is a security light to make thieves think your car has an alarm! My Corolla does not have an alarm but still has this flashing button.

Here is a pic of my button:

Happy motoring with your new car

Hi Stuart,

The light you are referring to is the securiy / Alarm indicator.

When the key is removed but before you lock the car it will flash.

When the car is locked, it will remain lit for about 30 seconds.

After 30 seconds, it will flash to indicate that the alarm is activated.

Hope this helps.
