Celica 1994 Gen 6 Exhaust Issues

Hi,

I've taken my Celica in to have the current exhaust replaced, the current one's a chrome after market one that's been welded on, it doesn't really fit and i'm keen to get the car back to its original form particularly to reduce noise on motorways.

I've been quoted £410 for the back box and mid section which seems pretty steep. I've also been told that it's a southern Irish import (hence the price) I'm pretty sure that it's not an import as the car was bought from a Toyota dealer from new. Does anyone know if there's much difference between the two and how I could tell?

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

hey,i live in cork in ireland and mine is an import.i had the exact same problem.the back box alone from the toyota dealer was 550 euro.that was trade price as well cause im a mechanic, retail was over 600 euro.basically the southern irish imports have a longer bend on the pipe where it goes over the rear subframe.they are not available outside a toyota dealer in ireland,i tried absolutely everywhere for months.i got lucky and ended up getting one second hand off a place in cork(70 euro).thats your only hope.they always have loads of import celicas.they might post.if your stuck,i could get you their number.

I had the same problem with m gen 6 1.8ST local exhaust place told me the no longer make a middle section for this car but could get me a custom made one for about £150 and a further £88 for the back box I phoned Longlife exhausts in cardiff and they done me a catback stainless steel exhaust ( midsection +backbox+ choice of tailpipes) with twin tailpipes for £330 and thats with a lifetime guarantee they have several branches but geography isn't my strong point I just hope theres one localish to you.
