I got it for 850 quid which is ideal!

Can anyone tell me what engine I have got I know its the 2l GT but thats about it - Im considering an engine transplant cos I have it on the rollers and its only putting out 148bhp which is a bit dissapointing but im still loving it

You have the 3SGE rev 1 engine and the RR power it put down sounds about right considering its age etc.

If you want a transplant engine, you would be better off getting a Turbo lump as another 3SGE wont be much more powerful than what you have at the moment.

Also if you do go the Turbo lump route then it will cost circa £1500! min!

Or consider the Camry V6 swap.

IIRC Rogue Systems were advertising a recon V6 fitted for £2,500 which I think is reasonable.

Personally I won't do that unless I have problems with the current engine, because I'm reasonably happy with the current output.

But if I needed a new engine I'd more likely put a V6 in than another 3S-GE or a 3S-GTE. I know the Tubbie option offers a lot of power, but I like the fact that my MR2 has no turbo lag and wouldn't sacrifice that for more power.

There is very little turbo lag on the 3sgte with a stock turbo.

If you want more power, I would highly recommend one.

Jimlad is right my turbo starts to spool up at just under 3,000rpm and then the hand of god is beginning to push you along ;) What more can you ask for :)

Sooner is it not? (can't really remember the mr2 mind you).

My 2nd turbo is already winding up at 3Krpm on the Supra.
