Window Tints...how And Who ?

Hi again,

Had my XT5 nearly a month now and must say it has exceeded my expectations in every way.

Parts King has done me proud and supplied me accessories very quickly and at a good saving on my local dealers prices.

Couple more things required before I've done everything, one being window tints as per XTR/T180, but the process involved puzzles me.

Do they have to take out the windows or is it done with the windows in place?

If they do take them out,can you tell they've been messed with, for example,is the rubber damaged in any way ?

How is the film attatched, are glues or heat treatments involved ? DIY methods tend to refer to soapy water and a squeegee!!? Surely that isn't strong enough on its own, especially on the rear windows that can be lowered/raised ?

Does it have any adverse effect on the rear window demisting elements ?

Also can anyone recommend someone in the Cumbria area that will do a good job and an approx. price ?

Thanks.

Had my XT4 done a few months ago, all the rear ones ones like an XTR. didn't think they removed the windows, no damage/marks whatsoever think it was squeegee and soapy water method as I left it with them for a few hours. That's the norm so they can position the film easily, has no effect on the adhesive on the film then when you squeegee the moisture away the adhesive starts to work and you have no bubbles. Had a heated workshop and when I went to pick it up the motor was running on maximum heat setting, took my breath away B) heat sets it over a couple of days normal running then you can use the windows.

No problems at all, rear demister doesn't affect it nor does the window mechanism, can't see any "clear" bits at all. best to find someone by recommendation as there are good and bad ones about, knew a few people who'd used the place I went, think Anchorman might have used them as well but it's a bit far for you. :(

Can't remember the price offhand but it was something like £180.

Fur £22.50, I'll happily come down and light 112 candles inside yer car - that way the whole inside gets coated with a darkening agent. Of course, at that price I'm unable to release details of this substance   A coat of laquer and its done!

Can't you just park the LR next to it, then use a hose on the exhaust to apply a coating of Diesel smoke...   Give a new meaning to Smoked Glass.....
