Towbar & Electrics

Hi all,

I have a Verso SR and I'm looking to put a towbar on it.

I have spoken to my local dealer re price, they have quoted £309 for the towbar (detachable), £68 for the electrics, and an extra £130 to fit.

I'm thinking about buying the parts and fitting myself (I did a focus last year). Has anyone had any experience with fitting a towbar on a verso? - Either genuine Toyota or aftermarket make (Witter etc..)

- Has anyone got a Toyota detachable towbar fitted to a verso?

- Is a cut in the bumper required?

- What about the electrics? The dealer mentioned soldering? Is it not just a case of unplugging a connector and "piggy backing"?

- Is there a blub failure warning system on the verso (new model)?

I have also had a quick look at non genuine towbars, has anyone had experience of these?

Any advice/experiences would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

Colin.

Fitted a few -

A detatchable towbar doesnt require bumper cutting. The fixed towbar does require the bumper drilling and the towbar goes through tthe bumper.

No soldering needed in fitting any gen toyota towbar wiring at all. Its all 'pluggin in' connectors.

No need for bulb failure on the new toyotas as the indicators will flash quicker if there is a problem.

No experience of non gen towbars apart from the ones i remove that are badly fitted with dodgy scotch locks.

Mart.
