The Leaky T Bar Fix....

Recommended Posts

I should really know about this by now having owned three T bar MR2s myself... but the Mrs has just bought a rev3 UK T-bar... as usually it drips when its ****** it down....

I seem to remember a "proper fix" somewere that doesn't involve silicone sealant or some form water based vaselene type gloop?

Yes I did try search ;)

I'd try the adjustable cam type things for where the rods slot into the bodywork [Edit] - or Eccentric T-Top Rod Guide as they're called. Apparently[/Edit].

Also give the rubber a treat with some cleaner to try to bring back its flex; I'd recommend the Meguiars stuff for that.

Good thread here including the part number for the cams.

Good luck. And pics please.

Does this not eventually eat away at the rubber as it is petrolium based?

Jimlad got his rubbers replaced with new ones at a cost!

You can try the rod guides.

Also use Halfords silicone lubricant stuff (can't remember exact name). I can find out if you need me too.

I woulduse the lube first as it's the cheapest option. Failing that, the guides, failing that, new seals.

The seals aren't cheap though.

Also, vaseline????!?!?!? ..... ok. If you wan't your seals to be eaten away.

Cheers Chaps.... It turns out its not much of a leaker anyway... Although I did find an old Yellow Halfords can by the spare!

I had a bit of a dribble down my back last night going home from work. I put up with it because you reap the rewards on those hot days/night.
