Rusty Hub Covers On 07 Car

Two of my three Avensis have suffered from rusty hub covers. Normally no-one used to bother about this because wheels used to hide the covers but open alloys put the covers on public display. So rusty hub covers really spoil the look of your alloys and I asked for them to be resprayed.

The local agents are pretty good and did the job well. When I collected the car though they told me Toyota will no longer pay for this painting for cars more than 6 months old. Mine was 12 months and the agents did it as a courtesy but otherwise I'd have had to pay.

Now if Toyota want to charge for covering up this rust then they should make sure that the wheel design doesn't let the hub covers show. Otherwise, paint the covers with something like Hammerite.

If anyone else has this problem, take your car in before it reaches the 6 month time limit and show the agents the damage even if you intend to wait a bit longer to get it fixed.
