Fuel Selection For Avensis

G'Day Folks,

This morning I decided to put some (52.5 litres to be exact) V-Power into my Avensis (2002, 1.8 vvti), I normally fuel up with Tesco 95 octane. So what do you guys think, will I benefit from the "premium" stuff? I have checked a lot of forum threads on the internet and some people (most with high performance cars) say that they notice a difference (performance and mpg).

I must be all in my head but whilst travelling in 50mph this morning the engine felt "smoother", no extra power or anything but it felt quieter somehow. I am convinced its all in my imagination but what is everyone else's experience with either Shell V-Power or the BP Ultimate?

Is it worthwhile the extra 5-6p/litre?

Cheers

hello

i 've been using 95 octane but after have tested all four injectors all of them were found as dirty.

so now i only use 95+ --- after 10k km they are all found as clean (!). the engine works smoothly.

cheers/igor

I have a 1.8 T3-X and recently filled up with Shell V-Max (I normally use ordinary Shell unleaded) and drove from Edinburgh to Glasgow on the motorway (about 40+ miles) and got 43mpg (using cars computer) when I normally get about 36mpg and I thought great. The following week I used V-Max again for the same trip and got 36mpg. So I'm not yet convinced. Has anyone consistently got better consumption with the higher octane fuels?

do yu think it will work first time or do you need to let a few tanks go through and clean the muck off the engine first
