1991 1.3 Gl 11,000 Miles Only !

Hello,

I am about to acquire, very gratefully, a 'H' reg (1991 ?) 1.3 GL 3 door hatchback from an elderly relative.

It was hardly used, hence there is only 11,000 miles (genuine) on the mileage and it is in immaculate condition.

After 3 years sitting in the garage, it started straight away (with the help of a Battery charge) and purrs like a happy cat !

I just wanted to ask the following:

1. What type of petrol does this car take ?

Is it the old '4-star' petrol, or LPG, or can I put unleaded in it ?

(the relative can no longer remember)

2. Also, I need to give it a new MOT, so would I need to have it fitted with a catalytic converter ?

(yes, these probably are stupid question :) , but the relative cannot remember)

Any advice will be gratefully received,

Cheers

Steve

thats a find! i had a '87 1.3GL and she ran on unleaded. you dont have to fit a cat neither unless was factory fitted - i think it was '92 when they came compulsary but dont quote me on that. solid cars - mine done 200k before i part-exd her and the only thing that went wrong was the alternator. it was me first car so i didnt exactly drive her like she deserved.

ae102 is bang on the money there, you'll have no problems filling it up with 95RON unleaded (regular) as thats what it was designed for, yes there is a catalytic converter already on that model, also as it's the 4E-FE engine it will do stupidly large MPG and run forever (provided it's looked after).
