Been reading alot of posts about batterys going flat and rumbles and thumps while driving ive also thought that alot of these questions could be answered by the previous owner :g: like the history of car, background, previous problems they have had...etc (i know not everyone is comfortable giving personal details out.. me included) but anyone thought about RAV's REUNITED.....??? also would be good to know that a once trusted friend and member of family was OK and in good health...? :D :D :g:

Loving my new XTR :D

but also missing old XT5

I still feel a little guilty about selling my HR-V :( (longest time I ever owned the same car, from 2001-2006). Got no real date in mind to change the RAV (prepaid servicing for next 3 years so it can't leave me anyway :D

Didn't really care where my last car went (Renault Megane..The JLO version ) would love to have spoken to the last owner of the RAV though...as 2 months after buying it the front pads + disks needed changing....

Drove down to Cardiff not long after buying the RAV and was approaching the Bridge and was pasted by the wife's old Peugeot 107 (had distinctive plate)...turned and said to her..."Never went that fast when you had it"

My last car was this 1.3 Corolla.

It was utterly reliable and now it has been handed down to my daughter and it lives in Hull. I'm afraid the hub capds don't look quite as good now!!!

Before i seen the light and bought a Rav :yahoo: i had a Bavarian Motor Works Coupe 328i was a great car but her indoors didnt like the rear wheel drive and the couple of brown trouser moments in the wet but for a quiet life we changed.... :P have to admit don't miss it much.....racing days are over and i certainly don't miss the road tax(as it would be £300!!!) , also it would pass almost ever thing but the petrol station!!!!!!!!! :crybaby:STA60001-Copy.jpg

As we are remenising a bit here, my last motor was an HR-V and I liked it a lot, but things started to go wrong and I had enough when it had to have a new exhaust system fitted on a Tuesday, it was booked in for a replacement Manifold system on the Thursday and on the Wednesday I had a prang that wiped out another car and caused about £2k of damage to mine (still managed to drive Hervie 120 miles home, though!) - That sequence of events made me loose faith in it :(

Hervie and Mrs Hoovie stopped off to admire the view on Achill Island, Ireland

HRV%20-%20Achill.JPG

This is not the actual car, but before the HR-V I had a Nissan 200XSX Touring

nissan200sxS14a_standard.jpg

Superb motor it really was, but I could not control myself in it - used to commute to office 10 miles away and never once got there without hitting 100mph at some time in journey, it was so easy and I really feared for my license

This gave me a few worrying times actually, similar to McTavishes Beemer I guess - it was not that keen on the M1/M25 roundabout when the road was slightly damp - not consistant with 200BHP and rubbish (but fully legal) tyres - swapped them with ContiSport and it was magic!

Nice HF antenna you seem to have on that Hoovie, and a light on top to warn low flying aircraft or 3 door RAVs

Well, I'm a person of boring predictability - same again almost. At least it took the neighbours a while to figure out the vehicle had changed

TwoRavs.jpg

Think I still prefer the look of the 4.2 over 4.3.

Thankfully for those of a nervous disposition and those that live in Derbyshire, I don't seem to have a jpeg of the nedflanders easily to hand . Where is it now? Who cares! Hopefully being put to good use as a chicken shed (poor chickens it will leak!).

......lampposts growing out of mine too Hoovie :D

SHCM your 4.2 is a stunner, as is your 4.3 incidently, but i am also beginning to wonder whether i prefered my 4.2 loved the bonnet scoop and the flared arches, and for all the 4.3s esc..etc, it was somehow more fun to drive, somehow more chuckable :yes:

Would have to agree with all the above regarding the 4.2. I think it will become a cult classic, still miss mine.

I reckon Mr T tried to appease the do gooders with the 4.3 and made it look less aggressive/ chunky. Now I'm

off to look for photos of one of my 2 Nedflanders.:lol::lol:

I like the looks of the 4.2 more, but the facelift version with round fogs, must admit. I do see shades of the 4.1 in the grill of the 4.3

OK - having taken the tips about the cameras at the border; at Shap; and planned an off road route down the emergency lane, where do I buy a set of blank plates?

Easy, you dont. Get one of those soon to cost 5p carrier bags, place it over your plate and if the cops stop you

just start raving and say no wonder they want to ban them they are blowing about everywhere.

I doubt if the 4.2 is more chuckable in reality, but I know exactly what you mean, it certainly did feel it.

Think we need a transplant of a T140 or T180 engine into a 4.2 body or even a 4.1 body (internet troll time - diesel in 4.1 anybody?).

Now I'm off to look for photos of one of my 2 Nedflanders.:lol::lol:

Dave, I just don't know what to say about 2 Nedflanders? I was think of something along the lines of "well at least the treatment finally worked", but I'm not sure whether you'll take offence?:lol:

I suppose, we could view it like religion, i.e. those that get converted (in this case to Toyota), seem to end up slightly fanatical.

oh b**ger. I just remembered - I test drove another nedflanders just before I got the 4.2. Was only to see if appeared as bad as the one I'd already got - honest  Thankfully it was .

None taken mate, actually my experiences with Nedflanders defy logic. Basically, I bought the first one, a 3 door and

thought it looked quite cool. And surprise surprise, IT NEVER BROKE :toast::toast:

Then Ibought the second one, it had a bit more get up and go it was the V6. And surprise surprise IT NEVER REALLY BROKE

either. Well, I say really because.............. when it was in for one of those extortionate services and they done a recall

while in. There was some speed sensor in the gearbox that had to be changed. I got it back, it was blooming whining

its brains out. Of course from the dealer it was "the part we changed would not do that" type of conversation. So not long

after I got rid, the reason ? well I did not want a big repair bill if the whine turned into something major, as its a little known

fact that all V6 Nedflanders are automatics.

Now heres the logic defying bit, said gearbox's are made by JATCO (Japanese Auto Transmission CO ). So the thing is

THE ONLY BLOODY JAPANESE BIT ON THE CAR WAS THE BIT THAT BROKE :blink::blink:

And while we're on the subject of Land Rovers, there popularity never fails to astound me. There's just so many going

about, in fact I couldn't believe it at the weekend while driving around Lancashire and into Yorkshire there were Mk 3

Discoveries everywhere. In some villages more Disco's than regular cars, WTF is all that about. ?????

All stolen and driven by drug barons.

WHY even think of putting a T180 engine into a 4.1??? Sacrilege!!!
