Rear Brakes

right ive just redone my back brakes, now without a manual or nothing but really the only hassle was knocking out those 2 pins that hold the pads in place.

now as i removed the old pads the scratch plate ?? (piece of metal that sits between the rear of the pad and the caliber crumbled as it was that rusty, i never got new ones and with the car jacked up i have no way of getting to a car parts dealers, or MR T themselves,

so ive redone the brakes apart from one of those plates that sits behind the pad and next to the piston of the caliper.

took the car for a test run to see if the handbrake and pads were working and the seem fine, handbrake is solid, but i can here the pads rubbing against the disk without my foot on the brake pedal and i can some time feel them judder when i brake.

so my questions are, will my brakes be fine without this part until i put my car in to get new brake disks, or should i go to Halfords tomorrow and get the part as its necessary in the braking function

right i found the right name of the part, its the anti squeal shim, after walking around getting bored i decided that the shim shouldnt effect my braking in any way, maybe a bit squeeling when the car brakes but thats about it, and im pretty much right, everything is fine brakeing evenly so it can wait until i get the discs changed. which should be in a few weeks. not the task im really wanting to do myself as im not a fan of changing disks but ill see how it goes

just standard pads, i had high hopes of changing all the discs to grooved with red stuff pads if i could get but car tax is due, and ive got a ***** load of work over in europe so money has to go towards other things at the moment which is a pain
