can anyone help please been noticing like a crackling sound from under the car lately an it's got worse today, really bad in low revs, say sittin at 2000ish in 3rd then accelerate then crackles really bad, anybody had this problem or know wot it is?

can you describe the noise a bit better? is it a matallic rattle - check heatshields on exhaust. will it make the noise when stationary and revved? might be easier to locate then. or is it more of mechanical noise like a tensioner?

yeah does sound like matallic rattle, an i reckon it's comin from round the exhaust down pipe area, no not doin it when revving stationary just when drivin but i'll double check on that tommorrow

Sounds silly, but once had stone lodged on heat shields under car. New right away what it was as heard stone thrown up at first. Sounded just like you describe.

had this twice on my compressor theres a divider in the exhaust downpipe which comes loose and causes a vibration on exceleration and deceleration trip to the dealers for a new exhaust i,m afraid

I have had this problem since I bought the car last year. Its the most annoying noise. But its a squeeking noise and LOUD too when i accelerate or go over humps.

The weird part is - is that it doesnt make the noise when I hold the clutch down... So it must be something to with the clutch.

I've heard before that its the gearbox. Apparently a common fault. There isn't actually a problem with the gearbox itself just a noise that cannot be rectified. So i'm led to believe anyway. My bro took his T-Sport back to Toyota and they said there was nothing wrong. Best way to check if it's that is to see if it does it when you decellerate when in gear. It should then stop when you accelerate. Mine does it and not had any problems.....

It'll be the downpipe, also the clutch on the supercharger pulley is generally noisy!

i think your talking about the clutch noise on over-run? clutch was upgraded to sort it - if i remember right when i looked at the old clutch and the new one the springs on the plate where changed and the old one had covers over them - or the other way round, was a while ago!

I thought it has to do something with the gearbox or clutch.

You can hear it when I deaccelerate (take foot off of acceleration right?) and the sound is very much like a shopping trolley. Eeek Eeek Ekkk, I havent actually had any problems(touch wood) with it but it is the ONLY thing that I hate about my car.

So Fwazz do you remember the sound sounding like a trolley squeeking??
