You can disagree if you want mate, but I have a degree in Automotive Engineering and work in quality control for BMW MINI so I do kinda know what I'm talking about.

I don't think it takes that long to warm up, I tend to drive very gently when it's cold so it doesn't really generate any heat - especially so if in heavy traffic.

Driving at 70mph it could probably go from the bottom of the gauge to the middle in about a minute.

Seems fairly normal to me. ;)

Quick look on Google maps and it seems it took about 1.5 miles to warm up today on my way home - a mile or so at 50, the last half a mile at around walking pace queuing for a roundabout.

The furthest I can remember getting before being up to temp is 3.5 miles or so - that's in cold weather and heavy traffic. So only actually about 50% of the way home rather than the 75 I said before - it just seems like more because the last half of the journey has less traffic!

I drive everywhere like a complete loon, hitting Lift as much as possible.

Weather doesn't seem to make a difference, i still manage an average of 31mpg!!

:D

Can I have your Engine instead of mine? I also drive like a Loon using Lift wherever possible and get 26.5Mpg! :(
