Well there seems to be many cars with lower engine sizes and Turbo chargers coming into the market....unfortunately Toyota 'aint one of them

But the Golf 1.4 GT seems to be the closest to our beloved T sport at the moment:

  • Good MPG
  • Power when needed
  • good build quality
  • low tax band

Yes, the insurance is a bit higher - but hey ho, you can't have everything. A very serious consideration in a few years time me-thinks B)

What do you think ?

I now where your coming from but i think id always look at the Golf GTI and wish id spent the extra or gone a year older depending on my circumstances.

Are they 230bhp now? Id rather spend the extra money on tax, insurance, petrol and what ever to have the faster car.

Just me thou

Next car possibillities in a few months:

1) BMW 123d (in deep purple or white - big wheels)

2) Audi A3 hatch 2.0 TDi (in white - big wheels)

3) VW Eos 2.0 TDi (black - big wheels)

One thing is for certain though, it will have big wheels!

No doubting the Golf GTs are a nice car, personally speaking id spend a bit extra money and go for a GTi..

Reckon you would be buggered too, if anything went wrong with the 1.4, id imagine they are a very complex engine....

I quite fancy a late model E46 BMW 330i Sport in avus blue....

I'm still contemplating importing a Will VS, especially as you can get the VVTL-i engine in them

CTS performance in a car that nobody knows what it is!! B)

A DC5 Integra Type R be my first choice, i would like a new JDM CTR 4dr sedan in 2 yrs time but dunno what prices be like then  but a UK CTR(old or new) a no no i rather keep the CTS, lol

Dont really know what else i want, maybe a standard 2005 Impreza WRX.....

I would be going for a Mazda 3 MPS, as they have a tricky clutch like my CTS and i would miss it  ....as well as them being seriously quick and understated like the CTS is. Golf GTI would be nice but a LEON FR 240PS is a bit rarer, Golf GT is ok but once you've been done at the lights by a GTI you will wont love it so much anymore.

I really hope i dont have to get a 4cyl Diesel, as they have no engine note yes their good on fuel and have low CO2 ratings but their soo boring.

I'm looking at the Skoda Octavia VRS. Same Engine as the Golf GTi but less common on the road. Not fussed about the Badge as its a quality car. Nice and practical for the family too :)

i would also consider the mazada3 mps! basically for the same reasons i bought my CTS, understated looks with power.

it beats the astra VXR, Golf GTI, foucs ST and all the other usual suspects.

Yeah Golf GT, GTI, Ford ST3, could be next. Shame my next car won't be a Toyota cos they don't do sport anymore! Come on Toyota, where's Supra, Celica, MR2, CTS replacements?

quite like the auris SR180 in white, saw one at showroom couple months ago when test drove my compressor an it really caught my eye, an i don't know if it was bull***t or not but heard salesman in toyota the other day sayin the engine an ecu have got the capeabilty to be run at 300bhp toyota have just tuned it down to 180bhp

but i have also heard rumors of an auris t sport with a turbo charged engine expecting around 250bhp fingers crossed this will actually be built

After experience of two Audis I would not touch ANY German car. If anyone is really, really, really interested, I will list the faults.

Stick to Toyota, they work. My opinion for what it's worth.
