It's That Favourite Time Of The Year....

Hello everyone!

I have just got a renewal for £740 (23 yr old, 5 years ncb, London) for my CTS.

I have looked up and down most comparison sites and some specialist sites and the best I got is about £600.

The thing is - up till now I wasn't too bothered but I feel that I want to protect my no claims. The best I can do is about £660 with someone called First Alternative or £710 with Privledge (but I can go through cashback sites and get back £70 which makes it about £640).

I called up Tesco and they will match it without the NCB protection but it's not really good enough. My policy is the value version which is meant to be cheaper because it doesnt have stereo cover/windscreen cover.

Anyone else with similar circumstances get any better deals?

Any opinions please...

put your parents / older people on your policy as named second drivers (if they have clean driving liscenses and good amount of driving years)

On my Corolla (SR 2006 2.0 D-4D) I am 21 2 years no claims it is £680 but with my dad added it goes down to £490!

try greenlight insurance. they offer discounts for members of certain car forums and offer like for like on mods. they are pretty good and were cheaper than everyone else for me

Try Chris Knott Insurance.

My renewal was exactly £500. Aged 22 with 2 years NCB. Clean licence, no accidents and Oxford postcode.

Hello

If you don't mind a high excess, put it at £500.

And don't add a courtesy car on it.

And as mentioned add a parent, older sibling or relative with a clean licence held longer than you.

My boyfriend has a Type R and he is with Adrian Flux, if that helps

Mine's due for renewal as well.

Cheapest quote £395 from Esure.

25, 7 years protected NCB, and mum on the policy (not that she'll ever be allowed to drive it!! )

I've never had a courtesy car on my policies and that has always knocked the price down, usually by about £20ish. It's kind of a gamble if you require you car say for work, but I don't. And my mates know that too and don't have it on there insurance as they know they can use mine for the duration if required.

Lots can be added to policies if not checked that you may or may not need. If you don't need them don't pay for them ;)

Thanks for all the replies. The insurance actually dropped another £70 quid :) when I added my older sister to the policy! Thanks for the tips everyone.

I will also see if I can take of optional extras.

Cheers again.
