ive been looking at clutch options and have come down to 3 choices...

Toda Clutch and Flywheel

C-one Clutch and Flywhel

TRD clutch and flywheel

the ntoda one is the most expensive at about 800 euro....havent priced the c-one yet and the TRD one is 740 euro for the kit including the new flywheel bolts and shipping from japan...

what would other peoples opinions be?

thanks

i would have the TRD one - but ferodo make the clutches for TRD so might be worth looking at what they have to offer in the way of performance clutches.

Can i add a trd or fidanza flywheel or would i need to replace the clutch completely? Will this make much difference to the cts?

apparenlty makes a difference - search the forum as someone in the past had the TRD clutch and flywheel after getting sick of the original clutch before it was upgraded. why change one - the theory being while you have the box off....... i think if you change the flywheel it is advised to change the clutch, maybe something to do with even wear but i'm not 100% sure.

I've imported a C-ONE flywheel which I'm going to use with a standard clutch as I've had a TRD one before and it wasn't noticablely different.....Just put and order in for C-ONE braided brake hoses and Light Crank pulley.....next step coilovers and poss an Injen CAI....

I've never had a TRD flywheel, I've had the TRD clutch on a standard flywheel on my old TS

Cant wait to get my C-ONE fly fitted.......next stop coilovers!

Hows it going,

Just ordered a Fidanza flywheel through Fensoprt, they had been on order since before christmas! So finally got it through, Fensport delivered in 2 days. Nice form from them as usual  . They advised me that this flywheel is s bolt on replacement and that you dont "need" to change the standard TSport clutch to install it (although if youve got the cash now would definately be the time to do both) They said they had a few guys running the CTS with these fly's with no daily running problems at all. Apart from the extra gearbox noise - which is hand in hand with loosing the dual mass OEM part, so we all knew that was to be expected.

I havent installed it yet, need to wait till warranty is up  but will let you all know how i get on with it once its in.

Ive also got a TRD short shifter kit which id like to pop in at the same time, but again have to wait untill warranty is up - another 6 months :crybaby:

Counting the days!

Oh- if anyone else has either of these parts fitted please let me know how you got on and what you thought! Cheers

nice mods fella's , think im going to have to start modding mine, the flywheel is 27% lighter must make a difference.

and that trd manifold for £500 looks sweet, some new uprated cams would be nice also and some nice wheels for me along with an exhaust sounds a lot of money.

does anyone know anything about the high compression piston kit ? ? ? ?

  • 3 weeks later...

I've bit the bullet and ordereda TRD clutch for my C-ONE flywheel on the Compressor

Also I told so some ont hte Fidenza flywheel isnt 55% lighter, well it says it is but i can see how....a standard Toyota flywheel is just about 5.6kg, my C-ONE is 4kg which would make the Fidanza one just under 3.1kg......can't see it....if I'm wrong i apologise!!!

you said you already had a TRD clutch - when someone was considering getting one you said it was no different to the original and you didnt recommend it ;)

Mike

Indeed I did......I've bowed to peer pressure, I never tracked my before and i plan to take a trip to the Ring.....plus my old T Sport had a Jap pressure plate which i can no longer get hold of(gen 7 Celica i think)

Sorry bout the suspension Mike, circumstances dictated I had to keep it, ie boiler at home blew!
