So Far No Good

Hello folks

Been looking in on the site for a couple of weeks now and decided it was about time I contributed.

Unfortunately it's not in a positive way.

I've had my 04 Avensis 2.0 D4D Spirit for about three weeks, whilst I like the car In almost every respect, apart from the MPG, it is at best poor, very poor.

I got 400 miles out of my first full tank, I took it back to the stealer's and they had a look, said they'd reset the injectors and all should now be well.

Second tank, the first quarter went in 80 miles, so it went back to the dealers again this morning, I've explained that I'm not very happy with the situation and that if they do not sort it this time I'll be back to them and will be asking to exchange the car for something that does what it says on the tin.

Anyone else had MPG problems?

What should I get if I do swap?

hmm. mine gets 46mpg (calculated from receipts) overall but computer claims mid 50s. I can stretch 600 miles from a tank occasionally.

what makes you think you have used the tank after 400 miles? what volume of fuel are you putting in? i think its a 60L tank...

ps. if you drive a diesel at high speed it does return very poor MPG.

Got it back yesterday, they worked it out that it had been doing 15MPG

Anyway they have sorted it the best that they can and early impression seems good, we'll have to wait a week or two to make sure.

Apparently the computers in the car weren't talking to each other!! they changed a few parts, downloaded some new info onto I think a new computer, the bill 780 = vat, so it looks like they are trying their best.

Time will tell
