Hi,

Im seriously considering trading in the GTI for an Auris, could owners of the SR-SR180 and T180 give their opinions to the following questions please...

1-Most of my driving is at 60-70 on the m6. What MPG do you get at this speed and what RPM is it doing? (please let me know if you have the 2.0 or 2.2)

2-Do you notice a difference with premium diesel or ordinary? If you like the premium, is it worh the extra?

3-Does anyone know if cruise control can be retro-fitted to the SR?

4-How is the IPOD integration if you have the tech pack? (The VW ipod connection also boast full control, but its half a.r.s.e.d and shoddy, and doesnt even display track text)

I haven't yet tried V-Power Diesel, but there is a big difference between Tesco's Diesel and Shell's oridinary "Shell Diesel Extra". The same weas true in my current SR180, previous T180, and Focus Diesel.

My SR180 as my T180 has cruise control as standard. I'm not sure if it's fitted to the 2.0 Diesel or 1.6 Petrol though.

MPG about 38-42 for me on VPower; RPM is 2k in 6th perfect and right on the beginning of the torque band so perfect for overtaking

As long as you use Shell extra diesel (the normal one) you are feeding your car decent fuel. I use VPower exclusively simple because it has additional additives to break down soot and keep the injectors healthy. Been proven to work. 180 engine is a common rail, higher pressure, variable nozzel injection with a 5th injector (DPF) EGR valve to keep NoX emissions down. Its more complicated than it sounds and i view the extra 3-5 quid per fillup is worth it if it keeps the parts in good condition. Compared to a t-sport and the supercharged t-sport, giving about 30mpg and 25mpg you save a load on fuel anyway so the extra cost is no issue to me.

3-Does anyone know if cruise control can be retro-fitted to the SR?

Not sure it only comes with 2.0d and 2.2d as standard so its possible you will get it on the SR 2.0d anyway.

No sure dont have this on mine

Other info for x180 - you'll probably average 430-450 miles to a tank, £50-60 a fillup depending on fuel brand. vpower makes t180 run a bit quieter, allows you to rev higher too. Up to 4.5k where as on Shell extra you can tell it runs out of power at 4k. Also v.cheap to service and insure. Road tax is quite good too, only £145 for me this time and insurance is only £330.

Find yourself a good toyota dealer and the x180 will match the GTI's performance with must cheaper running costs all round.

If you go for it let us know how you get on with the new motor.

I have owned my T180 (2.2) for a month and a bit now, so i am still new to the ownership.

To answer your questions:

1. 70 mph @ 2000 revs - With cruise control on and level ground, mine tend to cruise steady on 50mpg at exactly 70mph.

2. Slightly worst MPG with Vpower but has better surge.

3. No idea sorry

4. Again, sorry cant help.
