Anythings possible - how much money dya have??

You'll need the engine; ancilliaries; wiring loom; ecu; and a check mde as to whether the engine will mate up to the gearbox.

Having done that, you pay a specialist to fit the engine in; modify the mounts; strengthen the bits that need strengthened; re-wire 50% of the car; strengthen the suspension for the heavier engine......and then be prepared for the total loss of the type of power you are used to having.

It will be much quicker and cheaper just to buy a new car.

Oh, and the exhaust will need to be custom made - thats £500.

I think the biggest problem would be mating the gearbox with the engine. It is an aspiration of Toyota to do away with manual transmissions in the forseeable future and the concept is valid. It makes no more sense to leave the gearchanging in the hands of a human than it does to have a manual choke. Computers are more consistent if they are working right!

There will eventually be a diesel auto. Sit tight!

I used to have a VW Golf auto Turbo Deisel and it was brilliant , all the power you need if you want yet very economical as long as you don't push it hard.
