wow that doesnt sound good at all! did the engine cut out?

i doubt it was the drive shaft. if there was a problem with the drive shaft in place then i think u would ave heard a rattling noise if it wasnt sitting right. and the chances of it just poppin out and back in are slim

jump out of four wheel drive? not sure how that could happen. when i seen the pop i thought timing belt but it would ave killed the engine. did is just pop out of gear? did u need to put it back in gear to get it movin again

mate im convinced that it just wasnt in gear right. my old gear box used to do that. take it out put it back in and away she went. got a new gear box in it now. i dont think its the drive shaft at all. gear box oil all ok and level is right?

head gaskets dont go in the st205. they are metal.

coudl be the bushes in the gear box. any problem gettin in2 gear before? no rattles from it?

pop it up on a lift make sure all four wheels are clear and pop it in2 gear and then start. my mechanic had a device for listing to the gear box (1 of the doc things they wear round their neck) and you could hear a rattle. turned out to be a bearing. havent replaced the bearing. got a new gear box. still got the old 1 sittin here, mite get round to replacing the bearing to have a spare sitting.
