Yaris Verso Side Airbags

Hello, could anyone tell me where exactly the side airbags come out of the seats when activated? In the manual it looks like they are within the upholstery, but this would mean the seat would be destroyed upon activation. It appears on inspection that the side airbag may be in the plastic panel at the base of the seat, and inflates upwards from there. I am making seat covers and need to know where to leave the original seat cover exposed. Many thanks for your help.
