Corolla Ecu After Misfuel

I have a T spirit 5dr 1.6 automatic 2003. I missfuelled it with diesel and have spent a considerable sum eventually changing the Catalytic converter and the two Lamda sensors.

The orange light remained on when the ignition was switched on indicating a problem remained. The garage then somehow disabled the light on the dashboard. Now it is red when the ignition is on but then disappears. Toyota have said it needs a new ECU with fault code p0420 catalyst system below threshold on bank1.

Before I spend a considerable sum on fiting a new ECU, I would appreciate if anyone has any advice?
