I Think They Should Do The Next Aygo...

I think it would be really great if Toyota decided to do a convertible Aygo.. like the golfs

and the Micra

I think it would be great in this recent sunshine we're having, what do you guys think? I was just thinking about it today whilst wishing my Honda was on the roads

I think a convertible Aygo, either with a soft or hardtop will look ridiculous, just like the Micra C+C or

the Mitsubishi Colt CZC. These cars are just too small to look good with a removable roof, esecially closed...

The Eos looks fabulous, even if it is a VW, just like a Volvo C70, but both cost WAY more and have much

more budget to maken the roof fold into a smaller space. The C70 has a 3-part roof, the Eos has a glass

pane that can slide, which makes storing the roof much more compact.

On top of that; why would they make a budget-car and then make it expensive?

Have you ever noticed the difference in price between a regular and a convertible Micra?

The iQ might make it as a convertible, as that car seems to target a different market (and budget)...

D'oh I'll take that as a No then :D

Someone should photoshop one up, it may look ok.

I think the Micra convertible looks much better than the standard one.

The thought of it just reminds me of the Dihatsu Coben which I absoloutly hate..lol. Noddy Car.

I don't think a fully-convertible Aygo would work. Too much weight and not enough room- even for a manual cloth top.

However...

What about a fabric Webasto sunroof, like the old Mini? That'd be nice, even I'd consider one of those.

Loving the colour on that Aygo for Sport - why can't that be the new limited edition?

As for the soft top - yeah, why not have a convertible Aygo - Smart manage to do it for about £2K premium on top of the normal hard top (so could some in about £8K) and they have no trouble making that an electric fabric one. Just might mean that when you have something in the boot you cannot put the roof down and visa versa (bit like the limitation in boot space on the MINI when you want to put the roof down)

I know that you cannot guarantee the weather in the UK but I'd buy one!

Smart covertible isn't even a real convertible in my book...

And it isn't full electric: you can slide the top back electrically,

but then you still have to collapse the back bit by hand and if you

want to be even more "open" you need to remove the roof rails

between the A- and B-pillars by hand too and store them in the

(hollowed out) trunk-lid...

okay point taken - but the Aygo for Sport has the side rails too so I guess that is not a full convertible either but Smart shows what can be done on a limited budget and with global warming that everyone is talking about why not take advantage of the summer sun and get a tan with the roof down on your Aygo?

Convertibles add to the global warming, as generaly they weigh more, so get less mileage :P

But driving topless IS really nice; I had a Nissan 100NX before my Aygo and

with weather like this week, I don't think I'd have closed up the roof this week :P

I had a quick go at a photoshop, problem is my monitor isn't working properly so I couldn't see what the sky was like lol

Doesn't matter, that actually looks quite good, IMO. It even looks a bit retro VW Beetle'ish.

Good try. :D

where is that roof pinched from? Looks alright :)

Now if that was the colour of the Aygo for Sport or a nice orange (like the Twingo comes in) then that would look lush - and can anyone tell me that, even with the global warming effect, that they would not be tempted by that if it costed in under £10K??

Yea it was a new beetle I nicked it off... I can see on dad's monitor how bad the sky came out... but you get the idea... I'll see if I can do it in orange too and sort out the sky ha ha
