Hi guys right im in a predicament i need to top my oil up as its on the minimum mark at the moment and im driving to london on thursday night.

Only problem is i dont have a clue whats in it except it has full toyota service history so must be what toyota use.

went Halfords tonight and they didnt know anything and then i was looking and i thought i wanted semi synthetic in 5w 30 but the only one that was part synthetic was Halfords own and it said for both petrol and diesel engines leading me to believe its abit poor quality :S

So from what ive said what would you recommend i put in?

Thanks :)

The Toyota manual recommends 5W 30, so thats what it should have in it. Halford stuff is cheap and cheerfull but to be honest there is not a great deal of difference between most of the big oil companies products, its more down to personal choice. I use magnatex. Don't worry about mixing oil from one company with that of an other its not really a big problem as long as it the same viscosity i.e 5W 30. (that said ideally you want the only one type of oil in the engine if you can help it).

You must pass a service station on the way to london ?? Most petrol stations sell a fair range of oils from the big companies i.e castroll ect..

well whatever you do make sure u put some oil in it if its any thing like mine it will use all your oil driving london and back so i wouldnt bother buying superduper oil cause its only gunna burn up. unless ur vvti is fine of cause then splash out if in doubt book it in for a quick oil change. 10w 40 i use
