i know that the new golf gt works off both the supercharger and the turbo!

I dont think so, other wise they would have done it to the GTI and R32

Have you seen the engineering that has gone into the VW hybrid forced induction though? I think Porsche did something similar years back but the materials technology wasn't good enough to make it effective and reliable.

A budget of a few million should get you a good solution.

I would imagine other manufacturers will be watching closely because the combination of systems overcomes the inherent problems of each system. But I doubt many will follow suit until they're confident that it will work reliably and manufacturing costs can be reduced. I don't see it being available as an after market option for a long time yet. Petrol will probably have run out before that happens.

the work that goes into a twincharge setup is huge, you need an after market EMS to control it all (budget about £2k fitted and mapped) and its a pain to get the swap over point between SC and turbo smooth. but go for it. at least its original

You can NOT run this setup on stock interials... Btw its much easier to have forged interials and bigger turbo you will gain more with that :)

No I dont know who did this, just found this some time ago on some forum..
