Smoke From Air Intake

bought another gt4 st205 last week.was out driving this morning and seen smoke coming from the vents in the bonnet every time i put the foot down so i stoped and had a look and wen i boost der is smoke coming from the air intake i have hks mushroom filter on it could this be turbo on the way out any info will help!!!

my understanding from this would be that the turbo seal have went. the smoke is from the oil burning on a hot turbo. the smoke should only happen when u are still. if u have ur foot to the floor the the air (and the smoke) will b gettin sucked throught the turbo. u seing any signs of smoke out the back.

ur not havin much luck with these cars. u need to know how to look for a good 1! lol

no need to tell me about it. ye getting a puff of black smoke out the back wen i hit high boost but still getting smoke from intake.i could smell the oil wen i stoped.is der any other way of checking.

when u take the air intake pipe of at the turbo i would expect oil some oil is normal but if the seal are going it tends to be soakin. while ur there check for play in the shaft of the turbo.

ye der is quiet a bit of oil in the intake any idea how much it would cost to get reconditioned

i would justr buy a new turbo or take 1 of 1 of your other st205s. i have heard it costs quiet a bit to get recond and u cant do it urself

does it have a scoobieish sound on idle? as it sounds more like piston ringlands to me. what boost is it running

ye she sounds like a scubby and just noticed today that der is smoke coming from dipstick so i guess its worse then blown turbo its running standard boost i take it its not the turbo

no smoke from the dip stick will be blown piston or rings. most people suffer oil in the dump valve if this happens. if it sounds like a scooby then budget for full engine rebuild. oversized pistons, rebore, gaskets etc budget about 1100 for a good job! may as well fordge the engine of our going for a rebuild any way. will b a good base and stronger engine.
