Tyre Inflation

Hi All,

Proud owner of a 52 T Sport as of July last year and enjoying the experience.

Have a very simple question - what is the ideal tyre inflation for the car? When I picked up the car it was 24 in the front and 27 in the back. I do a low mileage but am mostly on the motorway.

Thank you!

Welcome.

Both of those pressures sound very low to me particularly the fronts. I'd expect 30 +/- a few lb/in2 depending on which tyres you have.

The standard pressures should be in your manual, and on a sticker which will either be in the glove compartment, or just inside the driver's door apperture underneath the locking mechanism.

If you have non-standard wheels then the correct pressures may be slightly different, but not by much. If you're not sure stock pressures are a good place to start. Then look at the tyre wear and handling to decide whether you need them a bit higher or a bit lower. Excessive wear on both outside edges tends to indicate pressure too low, and excessive wear in the centre means the pressure is too high.

Thanks T600 - just the standard T Sport alloys on the car so will have a look about for the pressure indicators on the car.

Cheers

I think the min should be 30 and the max 38.
