Re Gassing Your Air Con

I took Snowy back to the dealer a few months ago because the air con wasnt working and he said it just needed re-gassing....so to prove it wasnt faulty he used a can of 'stuff' to put some gas in. I have since seen this stuff in Halfords - anyone used it?? and is it worth it? think it was £40 if i remember correctly. The dealer did struggle with it but i think that was because he hasnt used the stuff before.

Hmm any thoughts?

I would just phone around a few garages first. I think they usually charge about £75 - £90 but they have the proper refrigerant and usually evacuate the system by vacuum which makes a better and longer lasting job.

Cheers

Only comment I have is that I would have thought it would be a little trickier then using what sounds like an aerosol spray to re-gas an AC system :g:

FWIW, I had a Rover 623 with A/C and had that recharged by a specialist (think it was about £100 8 years ago) and it was ok again. Don't think it is that unusual for an aircon system to need a recharge/regass after a few years so seems reasonable for him to think along those lines with snowy3 given its age.

just my thought based on no knowledge and just opinion :)

Have the job done properly, having your air con re-gassed is only part of the complete job

When you have it done properly, the existing gas is removed, the correct oil is pumped in, and then the system is re-gassed with the CORRECT AMOUNT of gas, you couldnt possibly gauge this out of a can

We have a special offer sheet here. I notice we do it for £51.00 this month. Mention our website special offer sheet when booking in
