I once found Mrs Duncerduncs crying on the toilet, because she'd kerbed an alloy on my last car (I couldn't help but laugh at her  )

I'm sure you're be able to find someone to repair them, you could even ask for bulk discount...

*sorry, couldn't resist*

Didn't Kingo once tell us that the alloy and tyre was around the £500 mark combined?

(apologies to Kingo if I'm wrong!)

Toyota wheel and tyre for XT-R was quoted about £470, obviously not the one I eventually bought. Be cheaper doing

what I did and get aftermarket alloy or in your case alloys. Wheel and tyre was £180. ;)

Buy four replacement non-run flats and tyres for about £160 each (assume bulk discount) so £800 for 5 wheel/tyre combos

Sell the two good run flat alloys and tyres at a 15% discount from dealer new price (say £400 each)

Result = cost neutral swap and no run-flat hostage situation anymore

I once had a four day old Nissan Primera company car in midnight blue pearl. I took my daughter to deliver a card at a friends house and reversed into an entry to let somebody pass. What I didn't know (because it was dark) was that there was an old steel gas pipe sticking out of the wall which dug into the rear quarter so deep that it peeled back a curl of metal. It made that noise like finger nails on a blackboard and believe me it penetrated right to my spine. Unbelievable!

I got it in straight away for repair and on the same morning I collected it I backed it into my sisters drive and gouged out the exact same spot on a post because I was watching her BMW on the other side. Incredible!!

For sale - one ex-numpty driving license. I would have willingly given it away that morning and its a good job I didn't have a Samuri sword to throw myself on.

Keep smiling mate.

Just have a quick trawl on the internet and yellow pages. There are plenty of companies doind alloy repairs but watch them like a hawk if they want to take the tyres off because the are probably unaware of T180 tyre problems.

I found this one with a branch in Manchester;

Thanks guys, thought I'd try the dealer first, waiting for a call back from RRG bodyshop, if they can do it I'll get the protection pack fitted at the same time then I won't feel as if the time as been totally wasted and judging by yesterdays driving, protection pack probably the best way forward.

I know what you mean about the Oracle car park, it must have been designed by the Green Party ( :2guns: ) as it's a pain in the ar*e for cars to use!

As for your wheels, I've used Wicked Wheels before ( http://www.wickedwheels.co.uk ), they're not cheap but do a good job :D

Toyota bodyshop cannot repair wheels because they are skimmed around the edges, I've been quoted £316 + vat for 1 new rim minus 20% because it turns out I went to school with the manager. I'm thinking get one new rim fitted then send the damaged rim away to a specialist to have it reskimmed then fit this to the vehicle, have the last rim repaired and fitted with a tyre and keep as spare. What's the score with the tpms, can I just change wheels myself or is some sort of calibration required?

From what I've seen of the documentation on the 4.3 TPMS, I believe the ECU has to be told the ID of each tyre valve, otherwise a TDC occurs and the light comes on. Of course I may be wrong, but it seems to go along with what others have reported on here from experience.

Some systems have the ability to automatically re-learn new valves or indeed "ping" individual wheels. Don't think this one does.

Having said that, if the wheel is in the car, it might still work, but on the other hand some systems detect wheel rotation to turn on or increase the rate of valve transmissions, which might screw that theory.

Yes, lots of additional questions without many answers! Of course, if somebody wants to lend me a T180, say for 6 months or so (with fuel supplied at your cost), I can do a thorough investigation and report back :D
