Problem With Headlight Cleaner

Hi!

Have a Toyota Avensis -08, and I have some problems with the headlight cleaner - probably I am just doing it wrong... but I couldn't find anything in the instructionbook.

Anyway: According to the manual it is just to press the "headlight cleaner"-button on the dashboard (in my car to the left of the steering wheel). The problem is that when I press it the cleaners "go up" i front of the headlights but immediately go down again - without spraying any fluid. I've also tried to hold the button pressed for a while, but they go down anyway.

It works to clean the windshield, so that isn't any problem.

I've only tried when the car has been still.

Sorry for my english, but I hope you understand ;)

Greeting

Christoffer

hello Christoffer

as i know you can flash your headlighgts when they are ON only. it is cleraly stated in the manual.

but after you point out to a windshield (?). as far as I know the windshield has both jet washers that are operated from the right hand level on the steering wheel.

please check carefully what is going on.

cheers/igor

Hi igor! Thanks for the reply!

The headlights were ON when I tried.

Guess it is my bad english that is the problem  But what I wanted to say when I mentioned the "windsheld" (hope it is named that) was that there is "windscreen washer fluid" in the car - so that can't be the solution to my problem (?)

hello again

i conside two problems -- firstly -- the pump was frozen in winter time due to poor water in the circuit; secondly the nozzles are clogged with scale/deposits.

if i understood you well the initial water jet is available. please make clear again.

thanks

Hi and thanks again!

I don't think it is that the pump was frozen in winter time because I got the car just a month ago (new) and it hasn't been any winter here ;)

That they would be clogged is possbile, but then I think I maybe should complain to the car-dealer.

I feel like a real rookie, and I hope I understand you correct: the "water jet" works for the "other parts" of the car (rear window etc), but not for the headlights. But you have to tell me if I have misunderstood you completely

Greetings

Christoffer

in case performance of another nozzles is good then the problem is with holes clogging only.

do you just need to hold the button down a bit for the water to reach the nozels. like you do sometimes on the rear washer.

I have tried to press the button in all possible and impossible ways  : Just an easy fast press, a long press and so on... They all give the same bad result.

EDIT: Problem solved! After I had pressed the button several times again it suddenly worked! Must have been air bubbles or something, so you were almost right igormus ^_^

Thanks for all help!
