Picked up my Aygo Platinum 2 weeks ago, love the car but am starting to have problems with trim. Glove box handle has come off, easy job to repair by removing screws from lid. Missing seal from under bonnet, Cut my hand twice on razor sharp edge of rear parcel shelf, cigar lighter loose in it's housing, poor plastic clip. Now one of the rear seat covers has come loose just under the head restraint. Bought Toyota for it's good name didn't expect problems like these !!!!!

Are these common issues.

I am sure that if you present these problems to the dealer he will sort them out to your complete satisfaction.

I have deleted your duplicate topic on this subject :)

"Missing seal from under bonnet"

If you mean at the front left hand side as you look at the car it's not missing as it was never meant to be there - there's another thread about this somewhere.

As red yaris says, the dealer should no questions asked sort these problems. Regardless of the manufacturer ur always gonna get the odd car with a minor problem or 2.

I wonder if it's coz they are building them down to a price and so you get these "features"? Or maybe how they are building this car?

I owned a Yaris that was built in Japan 7 years ago and it was a lot better built and it cost me the same amount. That's the way society is progressing though, to get things cheap now you have to take what they will give you, or pay a lot more and then put up with the steering wheel not on right or the windscreen wiper that sits 2 inches up your windscreeen when at rest. At least we can hope the major mechanicals are robust and if not then cheap to replace.

I bought an Akai video recorder a long time ago. It was really heavy and was made in Japan. A few years later I bought another which was half the weight and built in Malaysia. It had more functions and cost less. Guess which failed first?

Getting back to the point though, although after sales service is good for Toyota they really shouldn't be subjecting new first-rung Toyota buyers to these sorts of hassles. Maybe they need to sort out what's happening at the factory. Maybe the Peugeot and Citroen tie-up is perhaps an issue?

Regards

Andy

Thanks 4 deleting the duplicate. Yes the dealer has been very helpful and will sort all the problems but it is something I hadn't anticipated. see zakelwe reply.

An indication that, along with a move to much poorer interior plastics quality, Toyota may also be on the downward slide re build quality control. There really is no excuse for much of what has been experienced here. This sort of thing spoils the all too rare experience of having a brand new car. What a pity.

Hope it gets sorted out
