They way i do it is once the fuse has been replaced, start the car and wait for it to get up to normal operating temperature then go and drive it. Its ment to take a few runs for it relearn.

i see guess that wont be too bad.

It's just that i've planned my route (sad i know) of places where i can drive properly w. no fear of filth catchin me. The only thing is i dont wanna spend too long round there as it prolly will ***** of the residents, and i dont wanna do that cos it aint right. And they'll prolly call the police...

Drive out to a quiet area (industrial estate) .. and the pull the two fuses in the engine bay (Efi and EF-something) .. turn your lights on / tap your brakes (to drain any charge in the system) .. plug them back in .. and give it beans for 5/10 mins ..

JUst drive it normally, thrashing the hell out of it will do nothing at all, as at wide throttle openings the ECU will switch to its open loop control mode. In this mode the info coming back from the o2 sensors is discounted as the ECU reverts to its own fixed map.

Its mainly the part throttle (closed loop) settings that its re-learning, as by re-setting it you have simply returned all its previous adjustments to their zero settings. It will then over the course of a few hours see how far out it can push the ignition advance and fuelling whilst monitoring the O2 content until it reaches the optimum settings for your fuel and atmospheric conditions.

Guess i'll drive it hard as opposed to thrashing it about completely then. Cheers m8.

Thawt i'd record my account...nowt else 2 do, well maybe go 2 bed...

K, decided i'd mix it up, made myself a sort of oval/rectangular tracks using the backstreets.

Ove half of this "track" had a fair few twists and turns, and hte other side has a nice straightway.

So i was able to do low gear work and then accelerate all the way to 5th and hold it for a bit.

Did this for a bout twenty minutes, then ten minutes of casual driving round the twists, and flooring it along the straight bit to cool down. Then i took her home and parked her up (w. engine running for about 5 mins, then switched engine off but left fan etc running for about another 5 mins.

Can honestly say it's made a difference. Car's accelerating MUCH more smoothly now, and i'm gettin pushed back in2 my seat again when accellerating hard.

This was done after gettin my mongoose exhaust fitted, plus new injection leads + sparkplugs. I also decided to quickly service her: new oil filter, replaced oil (mobile 1 - the 0w one), new gear fluid, and i think something else, can't quite rem what!
