Oh, I've enjoyed reading this! It just goes to show that our little boy humour is only just beneath the surface

I have been waiting for weeks to slip this one in.............ever since I updated the website to read "visit our flocking page"...........It stirred up some very boyish giggles from within for some reason :D:

Kingo

Guess most of you will be too young to remember when the whole outside of cars ( usually mini's ) was covered in this stuff in the early 1960. I love to see someone clean a coated car with a modern pressure washer - it would look like a mangy cat.

Are you going to pin this one in the technical forum Anchorman? No - maybe not.

Best regards

Chris

No but I remember vynil roofs!!!

Oh, and so do I - had a 1968 Ford Cortina Mk2 (SXD 185F) in a lovely colour called "Saluki Bronze", which I resprayed purple and then put a white vinyl roof on in about 1971. In retrospect, it must have looked like a pimp-mobile, but I thought it was sooo cool. Thankfully, no pictures remain..... :blushing:

Aaahhh the old vinyl roof, or as my old Father in Law used to call it...........Vinile......well he was from Yorkshire :D:

Not sure of the flocking cost as it varies to what is being flocked, but I am reliably informed you can flock just about anything from dash boards to parcel shelves, or even flockers who stand still too long!

Kingo

I had a lovely gold metallic 1600E, KBH 454G, twin choke weber carbs, sunroof, rostyle wheels, wooden dash (a link to the topic, at last  ) and driving lamps. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one now, if there are any still around. That said, the memory is probably better than the actualité :blow:

Driving to Halfrauds at the weekend and passed a pristine Lotus Cortina in White... boy did I want one of those when younger    ... still do now..

(Before you ask only brought a cycle helmet for my daughter...she's doing her cycling proficiency this week at school)

O and I cleaned the wife's car and inside..also added some polish to her dash board as it was filthy... leaving the roof down when parked under a tree :ffs: :ffs: luckily no birds sat in tree.....
