Ecu Problem

hey guys need help. had a ems light on the other day, gave fault code as chargecooler coolant. checked the coolant level, checked the pump, checked the relay and checked the level sensor. all ok. the fault code is displayed because the pump aint coming on. its not getting a signal from the ecu. if i run a feed down the wire from the ecu to the pump relay the pump runs. has anyone else had a similar problem or is mine the most unreliable gt4 of all time.

it is a 1995 st205 import

can anyone give me any pointers please :crybaby:

so when u take the cap of and start the car and then rev it the coolant isnt movin at all?

im sure it a wire with a bad connection or something. dont think u would ever have to replace the ecu

yeah the 205 ecu is pretty reliable. the pump doesnt run all the time only when throttle is applied. it is not uncommon for the pump to fail but that normaly makes a screeching sound.

have you checked the wiring for continuity?

yes mate all wiring checked with no breaks. pump works ok but only when a dummy signal is sent down the wire from the ecu. the ecu wont power the pump on its own

can you give me the part number off the ECU, its possible it has the MR2 turbo one as that doesnt have the CC setup, though why its been changed is anyones guess

I've had this on a Gen 5 C/S and it was a fuse problem.

IIRC one of the 30 amp fuses isn't as clearly marked as it might be. Don't have the car any more so can't say exactly which fuse it was.

why does it have a mr2 ecu tho? surely its done on power as the mr2 is mapped for less air flo and that why tyhe power is something like 20bhp less?

got no idea mate. maybe nicked for a spare or maybe some import company did it for a quick fix. but yes it was down on power. since i put a new ecu in the power seems more even tho she is in safe mode with a code 52

might have had a power fc and the import company sold it on, who knows. at least you know the problem and can strat fixing it. might be a good enough excuse to get an aftermarket standalone unit ;)
