hey, I was just giving the windows a quick mid week clean and noticed that the drivers window goes up and down slower then the passenger one.. now it sounds like im nit picking, but can someone check if this is normal i can't say iv ever noticed it before but it might be a relay on the way out or sumit i dunno.

Its just if it isnt normal I wanna get it seen too before the warranty runs out.

Thanks alot Matty :D

There are no relays in the stock window system for the Aygo, just the switches and the motors.

I'd guess the driversside would wear a bit more, since that's used more often.

I've modified my wondowsystem to have dual controls for the passenger side, thus use both windows

quite often and haven't noticed any true difference, even when I let the widows "race" against each other...

oo sounds cool..

Its going in for a serivce at the end of the month so ill mention it and see if they have an answer. Thanks for your help!

mine is the same, slower than passenger side

Another possibility could be difference in length of the wires from the Battery to the motors;

the Battery is on the righthand side, so the wores to the righthandside motor are MUCH shorter.

Righthandside being passengerside in a RHD car and drivers side on mine :D

I've noticed this but I was too scared to mention it in case I got laughed off the forum!!!

Every credit to you, Matty!

I laughed...

and my arms arent long enough to race test them both

hehe, surely the aygo cant be that wide SJ! :D

Apologies if this has been asked but how did you do it and is it easy to do ?

as for the delay , cant say ive really noticed but then only use the driver side window

If you're a bit in the know on electrics it's not really hard. I installed two relays in the passenger door,

enabling me to use a relatively small switch in the drivers side door and small gauge wire across the car.

Here's a schematic:

Raamschema_v01.png

The wire colors correspond with the ACTUAL colors used in my car, I used mostly the same colors for my own ease of installing,

I used blue instead of red for the motor-wiring to distinguish the wire from the red wire giving +12V (as per the standard)

Modified wiring at the passenger switch:

Both relays with the extra wiring. (The door card is "parked" on the door sill)

And the auxilary switch "hidden" in my drivers door (LHD car):

And clarification on the actual location of the switch (Thanks to XtraStuff):

Finally a small demo of the actual system functioning (sound is a bit off):

Please wait a few seconds for Video to load!

Not the prettiest video, but at least you can see the window

move and the switch at the opposite side NOT being used...

See...we Aygo owners are the coolest! Stuff the Celicas and their track days, we have window race days! :D :D

Who wants to post their quickest window down time then? B)

I had a look at that schematic with great interest, it's something I want to do in mine although I might want to put the switch somewhere else.

I see from the schematic that the window wouldn't move at all if you wanted the window up and your passenger wanted it down. That answers the question I had.

I put the switch in the door since I wanted to be able to control both widows with one hand and wanted to

keep a "stock" look. There's a OneTouch module in my drivers door, so I can tap the switch on that side,

running the window down or up and do the other side by hand in the mean time...

If you'd want to you could also use two pushbuttons for the auxilary

switch; if you accidentally push both at once the window will just stop...

All wiring is done inside the doors except for the two sall wires running across the car and

all power is kept within the existing circuit, so there's no need for extra fuses and such...

great. thats exactly what i wanted to know. jan your a STAR! :)

Thank you, thank you :D

Funny thing is that I'll probably modify this system next week in order to have One-Touch capability on the passenger side too...

The module instals instead of my relays and I just have to add a couple of diodes to keep the fuse from blowing up :P

Hmmm having an Window Switch on the drivers side to control the passenger side would be handy as would the one touch facility - what would you need for either or?

I would be hoping for maybe a custom enclosure/extension to the bit which houses the driver-side switch - look better imo - but fair play Jan on the switch install!!

Um, now you ok? Great!

Haven't gotten around to installing a second onetouch yet, but I DID sketch out a schematic.

I'll be removing the two relays and will replace them with a onetouch module.

Then all I need to do is throw in 4 diodes to keep the signals from shorting out.

When I finally get around to installing it I'll make a couple of pictures and possibly

another video. Ad I'll clean up my sketched schematic to match the one I posted above.

whilst we're on the topic of windows:

Anyone else when travelling at high speeds hear a sound from the drivers door/window as if there is a slight gap somewhere?

Not sure if this is normal because of the doors not being chunky like most cars or not. cant remember if it was there before the new seals were fitted.

Well, today I finally got around to fitting the second OneTouch, replacing my relay-assembly.

I forgot my camera, so didn't make any pictures, but since there's not much to be seen anyway that's no real loss ;)

Here's my latest schematic:

Raamschema_v02.png

It incorporates two OneTouch modules, one for each window and 4 diodes to be able to control the

passenger window from either the original or my auxilary switch, without shorting anything out.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask...
